December 2023’s Do It for a Cause Spotlight honors the Poplar Bluff Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #48 and their incredible annual Shop with a Hero event.
Each December, local first responders join forces to bring Christmas joy to children across Butler County. Every participating child is paired with a hero — from police officers to firefighters, paramedics, and volunteers — and receives $100 to shop for Christmas gifts.
The result? Laughter, hope, and heartwarming memories that last long after the wrapping paper is gone.
Heroes Serving Beyond the Badge
It’s more than just shopping — it’s about connection.
Shop with a Hero gives children a chance to experience kindness and community while forming positive relationships with those who protect and serve them every day.
